What newcomers to the Warhammer Online community might not realize is that our very own Snafzg of The Greenskin sports one of the oldest, if not THE oldest WAR blog out there. He's been cooking with it for well over a year now, and it was just about a year ago that he hosted the 2007 Greeny Awards as a way to promote and congratulate excellence in the WAR community. Today, he's posted the official launch of the 2008 Greeny Awards, so get thee over to the Greenskin and make your voice heard! H… More

Having hit 35 and pretty comfortable in the T4 groove, my thoughts have started to drift strongly in the direction of creating my first serious Order alt. It's actually a pretty involved process for me, because I have quite a few considerations and factors to keep in mind: Because I devoted Syp to going through all of the Dwarf content, I'm not interested in rerolling a Dwarf, as intriguing as the Rune Priest or Ironbreaker might seem. Perhaps if they do Slayers. Perhaps. So that leaves me w… More

As you probably know from readings months and months of my literary dribblings, I'm a bit of a fluff nut -- a fluffernutter, to be exact -- in MMOs. Looks > Functionality, 9 times out of 10, if I have a say in it. If it's completely pointless other than an esoteric pleasure in owning and displaying some virtual item, then I'm all over it. Why is that? Partially because I can more easily see through the statistical spreadsheet nature of MMOs and have given a huge collective shrug of "meh" … More

Yes! Sometimes I actually talk about my character instead of winging game development topics I know little about! 'Tis true! Welcome to episode 105 in the Misadventures of an Engineer Named Syp, in which Syp travels to the Brown and Red Zone, AKA "Thunder Mountain". Again, we're not quite sure why developers seem bound and determined to throw in ugly-butt zones that decorate extensively in brown rocks and red lava, but if that's the sort of thing that puts the pep into your morning step, th… More

It's come up again and again, particularly over the past couple weeks, so I want to assure you that I'm not blasé about the commenting issue on WAAAGH! Fielding anonymous commenting (or at least commenting where you don't have to register with GameRiot) is my #1 priority with this blog right now. It's not a new issue with me, I've been very strongly for it ever since initially talking with the GameRiot staff and they assured me they'd do everything in their power to make it happen. Part of t… More

Something Snafzg said today triggered a recurring thought I've had concerning T4 PvP. He mentioned that "I started fighting against rank 40s and realized that T4 RvR is all about crowd control. I can literally be chain disabled, knocked down, knocked back, stunned, and rooted in the span of a few seconds." This echoes a comment a guildie made to me a month or so ago when I was back in T3, to the effect of "Stay there as long as possible, 'cause disable and disarm in T4 is completely overdone and you won't be able to do squat in mass PvP."… More

It's a new year (2009, just in case you don't have one of those new-fangled "calendars" the whippersnappers are sporting), and in the spirit of new year's resolutions, I'd like to introduce a new... well, I guess you could call it "effort"... on behalf of the WAR blogging community -- WAR: THE AGE OF BLOGGING! With the departure over the past few months of a few big Warhammer Online blogs – some for personal reasons, some because of time constraints, and some because they stopped playing the ga… More

Before I go party with my guild tonight -- we're getting together to shoot off tons of fireworks and figure out how to mod our characters to /dance -- let me point you to this GOA End of the Year post, during which they hint at the upcoming Dwarf/Greenskin melee classes, confirm official community forums (at least for Europe), and post Dreamhack pictures. Happy new year! More

So I guess bloggers are supposed to post end year articles? Yeah. I didn't get the memo until today. Sorry about that. 2008: Pretty Good For Games, Hoping 2009 Will Be Better. How's that? What I truly can't believe -- what March 2008 Syp would've been surprised to know -- is that I'm still chugging away, blogging about Warhammer Online. WAAAGH! was initially supposed to be a twice-a-week blog, something that I started because there weren't a lot of blogs out there on WAR and I wanted to get… More
